What's new with 1716 from April of 2026?
Our upcoming parties, premieres, and productions.
Lots happening this spring and even more this summer!
So stoked to be sharing some exciting developments from this past month and what you can look forward to this upcoming summer…
Production is underway for our coming-of-age short Midlo!
The cast & crew of Midlo have been hard at work scouting locations, rehearsing, and generally preparing for principal photography this upcoming May 9th through the 11th in Winston-Salem, NC.
Since writer-director Alina McMahon began development in January, several past 1716 collaborators have joined the project as key crew members, including director of photography Rugile Zemaityte, production designer Henry Stanley, and associate producer Luke Penny.
While we’ve concluded our casting process for principal talent, we’d still love to collaborate with you as a background performer if you have interest and can work locally to North Carolina!
Please send a message to us at midlocasting@gmail.com and our background coordinator Treyson Guild will be in touch with you shortly.
Shallow was awarded ‘Best Cinematography’ at NFFTY!
I’m incredibly grateful to have attended the 2026 National Film Festival for Talented Youth with my family in Seattle, Washington, where on the event’s closing night, Shallow was recognized for ‘Best Cinematography’!
I want to express a great deal of appreciation for all of the festival’s welcoming staff and attendees alike, so many of whom had very kinds word to say about Shallow.
I’m also eager to soon be announcing some exciting collaborations with several folks I had the privilege of connecting with there…
A new addition to the 1716 team!
As part of the effort to expand our services into the realm of film distribution, Alina McMahon is joining the team as our Director of Marketing & Audience Strategy.
A summa cum laude graduate of the University of Pittsburgh College of Business Administration, Alina’s previous experience includes working in theatrical media strategy at Paramount Pictures.
With a passion for independent filmmaking and connecting with online audiences, Alina brings an exciting new voice to the 1716 brand.
Returning to New York City after three months away!
While I absolutely loved my time on set of Midnight Courier in Virginia, and am looking forward to being on set of Midlo in North Carolina, I’m also very excited to be returning to New York this May!
While I spent my prior six months in Harlem, I’ll likely now be moving to Brooklyn, and look forward to catching up with all my fellow filmmakers and artists living in the area!
Additionally, I’m stoked to begin planning a mixer event for our New York community in late May or early June, so keep an eye out for that…
See you soon, and stay posted for next month’s update!
Stay tuned for more details as they become available, and don’t forget to follow along at @1716digital on all platforms!
