What's new with 1716 from February and March of 2026?
Our upcoming parties, premieres, and productions.
Firing on all cylinders in 2026!
My year has already proven crazy enough to delay me from posting February’s newsletter, but I’m excited to finally be providing an update here at the tail end of March.
From festivals to future projects, there is a lot happening in the world of 1716 already a quarter into the new year!
Shallow is screening at NFFTY!
I’m writing this post now from uptown Seattle where I’m spending the weekend to attend the 2026 National Film Festival for Talented Youth.
For years, I’ve looked up to industry peers who have screened their work here at NFFTY, so it’s a genuine honor to be finally joining them while also enjoying the opportunity to share our work on the west coast!
The screening tomorrow morning here in Washington may be one of our last stops on this festival run, however, it won’t be the final opportunity to see Shallow on the big screen!
Join us to watch Shallow in North Carolina!
Taking it back to the city where the project was developed and produced, Shallow will be screening at the 2026 Riverrun International Film Festival, an Oscar-qualifying festival in the heart of Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
Live in North Carolina and want to join the cast & crew in watching Shallow on the big screen?
The Reynolds Place Theater will be hosting two separate screenings at 7pm on Sunday, April 19th and at 7:30pm on Thursday, April 23rd respectively.
Tickets are available for both viewings now on the festival website!
Want to watch Shallow, but don’t live in North Carolina? The short film is available to watch for free online on our YouTube channel!
Days of August is now streaming on Tubi!
In addition to its availability on Amazon’s Prime Video and Vimeo On Demand, you can now watch our dystopian romance film for free with ads on Tubi.
If you’re looking to watch the film without making an account or paying any upfront fees, this is absolutely the platform to watch it on!
That being said, we really appreciate all of you who have watched Days of August, regardless of platform. Every view supports both the filmmakers who worked on it and those working on our future projects!
If you give it a watch, please consider leaving an honest review and rating through Letterboxd! We’d all love to hear your thoughts.
I just spent twenty-five nights on set in Richmond, Virginia!
Very little sunlight touched my skin — save for the occasional sunrise — across the better part of February and March!
That being said, working as the unit production manager on Midnight Courier, an independent feature film by Virginia-based filmmaker Andrew Chi Nguyen, was a fantastic adventure and learning experience.
I’m eagerly looking forward to the opportunity to collaborate with many of these new-found friends and fellow filmmakers in the near future…

Let me introduce you to our upcoming homegrown short film, Midlo!
The titular setting of Midlothian — a seemingly picture-perfect labyrinthine suburb of Richmond, Virginia — is certainly a complex character of its own in this coming-of-age short film from writer-director Alina McMahon:
Midlo follows ambitious over-achiever Paige, who despite a prestigious internship and perfect college grades, is rejected from her dream job in New York City.
Now forced to step backwards into her sleepy hometown, she’s confronted by the same challenges that many in our generation face, such as a shrunken job market, an ever-dystopian news cycle, and a claustrophobic childhood bedroom.
While at times paying playful homage to Emma Seligman’s Shiva Baby and Lena Dunham’s Girls, Alina’s original screenplay serves as a heartfelt, self-aware, and relatable exploration of challenges faced by the average twenty-something post-grad in 2026.
With a women-led crew and an all-woman cast, I’m excited to be taking Midlo into production later this spring in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
If you happen to see yourself at all in the story of Midlo, I encourage you to contribute to the production’s crowdfunding campaign — which as of today, has reached over 20% of its goal — to make this unique project possible!
Otherwise, show your support and keep posted on how you can get involved by following @midlomovie on Instagram!
This production will likely be the first of several projects over the next year or two that 1716 Digital ventures back to shoot in Virginia & the Carolinas, with the aims of exploring coming-of-age themes in the setting I called home for the greater portion of my life.
That being said, I’m excited to be permanently returning to New York at the end of May and look forward to reconnecting with the incredible community!
See you soon, and stay posted for next month’s update!
Stay tuned for more details as they become available, and don’t forget to follow along at @1716digital on all platforms!
