What's new with 1716 from May of 2026?
Our upcoming parties, premieres, and productions.
Starting off the summer right!
Feels amazing to be writing this from the desk of my new apartment in Brooklyn. We have tons of exciting stuff coming up this summer and fall that I’m stoked to share…
I’m back in New York City!
So thrilled to be back in New York after the past several months working on various film projects in Virginia and North Carolina.
Now being based in Brooklyn I’m looking forward to organizing and participating in some more community events here in the city!
Would also love to grab a coffee or drink with anyone in NYC looking to connect. Shoot me an email at lucahuff@1716digital.com and let’s talk shop!
We shot our coming-of-age short film Midlo!
Had an absolute blast down in North Carolina for the second weekend of May with the cast & crew of Midlo.
The experience proved an awesome opportunity for us to join worlds and collaborate with both Virginia-based crew — who we met during our time working in Richmond this past winter — and North Carolina-based crew, who I’ve known since my time down there at UNC School of the Arts.
I want to especially shoutout our gracious shooting locations throughout the city of Winston-Salem, which included the beautiful Green Street Methodist Church, the Winston-Salem Theatre Alliance, and Burke Street Pub.
Also, massive thanks to all the lovely background actors who came out to volunteer their time on each of our three days of shooting. The film would not have been possible without their contributions.
All that being said, principal photography went off without a hitch and we’re so excited to share more from the project as it transitions to post-production this summer!
Amos Waters is releasing on our YouTube channel!
We’re excited to announce that we’ll be partnering with production company Ur Girlfriend’s Favorite Films this June to distribute their narrative short film The Thrilling Adventure of Amos Waters, a touching coming-of-age story set in Oklahoma City told through the eyes of a 10-year-old boy.
I had the privilege of connecting with the team behind Amos Waters this past March in Seattle at NFFTY 2026, where it was nominated for the festival’s Jury Award for ‘Best Drama’.
It’s been both an honor and a ton of fun for us to work closely with writer-director Ella Janes, who together with JJ Klein-Wolf, helms Ur Girlfriend’s Favorite Films. We also look forward to hopefully continue to collaborate with them in the future!
Amos Waters will be releasing on our YouTube channel this upcoming June 12th and we can’t wait to share it with y’all!
Keep an eye out for more projects releasing this summer!
In addition to Amos Waters, we have an awesome slate of short films planned for release this summer and fall and can’t wait to announce more on our Instagram and YouTube channel soon.
See you soon, and stay posted for next month’s update!
Stay tuned for more details as they become available, and don’t forget to follow along at @1716digital on all platforms!
